Stop chasing members.

Shart — the annual mosque contribution — is still often collected via paper and WhatsApp. One member forgets, another waits for the payment request. With Khutba World: tiers per category, automatic reminders via 3 channels, and payment via iDEAL, bank transfer, or cash. The board sees in real-time who still has an outstanding balance.

Shart is what many mosques in the Netherlands call their annual membership contribution — often an amount per family, per adult, per student. Not religiously obligatory, but essential for keeping the mosque running: rent, maintenance, imam compensation, utilities.

The reality is that many mosques handle this the same way year after year. A treasurer with a notebook or an Excel file on his laptop. A WhatsApp group where a reminder appears every month. Payment request links that get lost in group chats. Cash amounts that come in but aren't clearly recorded.

It works — usually. But it's fragile. When the treasurer changes, most of the knowledge goes with them. If the Excel file disappears, everything is gone. On average, 15 to 25% of contributions remain unpaid for a year — not out of unwillingness, but out of chaos.

With Khutba World, you put shart into a real system. Set up tiers (Adult €120, Family €200, Student €40, 65+ €60). Generate a row for each member for the entire year with one click. The system automatically sends reminders via push, email, and WhatsApp according to your own schedule. Members pay wherever they want: online via iDEAL, via bank transfer/IBAN, or cash to the board. Every payment delivers the same confirmation email with PDF receipt (tax-deductible via ANBI), a push notification, and automatic active membership for that year.

One dashboard, all year

Four core functions that make the difference

The board sees in real-time who has paid, who still has outstanding balances, and who received how many reminders. Members see their own status and payment options.

Tiers per category

Adult, family, student, 65+ — set them up yourself with custom prices. The board assigns a tier per member. Can always be changed. No limit on number of tiers per mosque.

Reminders × 3 channels

Push, email, and WhatsApp — all automatic. Set it yourself: how often (default 30-day interval), maximum number (default 3×), and which channels are on. Stop immediately after payment.

3 payment methods

iDEAL/card (online via Stripe), bank transfer or IBAN (external), or cash to the board. All equal in flow — same confirmation, same receipt, same administration.

PDF receipt + ANBI

Every payment automatically generates a PDF receipt with mosque logo, ANBI number, and the line "tax deductible". Members keep it for administration or tax returns.

For the board: real-time, without Excel

In the dashboard you see per year what has come in and what's outstanding. Click on a member for details, mark cash with one click, archive or forgive what's uncollectible. One source of truth — no more versions, no more "who has the most recent Excel".

For the member: one screen, three choices

In the Khutba World app, each member gets a Shart tab on the mosque page. There they see their status — amount, tier, still to pay or already settled. And three payment buttons that all give the same result. For all three methods, the member receives within seconds a confirmation email with PDF receipt and push notification.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is shart?
Shart is what many mosques call their annual membership contribution — often an amount per family or per member category. Not Islamically obligatory, but essential for keeping the mosque running (rent, maintenance, imam compensation). It comes from the Arabic word 'shart' (شرط) meaning 'condition' — the contribution as a condition for membership.
Why do members automatically become active members upon payment?
Shart paid = active membership for that year. As soon as your shart is in, your status automatically switches to 'active'. You get access to members-only content (polls, requests to the board). On January 1st, members without payment from the previous year are downgraded to 'inactive' — access closes off until they pay again. The board can override this via 'forgiven' status.
What does WhatsApp cost and is it mandatory?
€0.07 per message sent — Meta cost price + Khutba World margin. Added monthly to your Stripe subscription. WhatsApp is not mandatory — you can turn it off and only use push + email (both free). For 100 members with an average of 60 reminders/year, it's ~€4.20/year. WhatsApp sends from one central Khutba.world number with Meta-approved utility template.
Can I turn reminders on or off per channel?
Yes. Per mosque you choose which channels are on (push, email, WhatsApp), how often (default 30-day interval), and maximum number (default 3 times). Reminders stop automatically as soon as payment is made. The board can also manually send a reminder or exclude a member from automatic reminders.
What does Khutba World receive on a payment?
For iDEAL/card: 1% platform fee + €0.29 transaction costs — transparently shown to members as "Khutba World Service Fees". Member pays €121.49 for a €120 shart, mosque receives €120, Khutba World keeps €1.20 (Stripe keeps €0.29 for itself). For bank transfer/IBAN or cash: Khutba World receives nothing, only the subscription.
How is the mosque paid out?
Monthly (5th of each month) the system calculates the owed balance: sum of Stripe payments from previous month minus 1% platform fee. Khutba World transfers via SEPA to the IBAN you set in the dashboard. You see all payouts in a history — dates, amounts, references. In Phase 2 this goes automatically via Stripe Connect directly.
Does this work for members without an app account?
Yes. The board adds them manually with name, phone, and optionally email. Confirmation email is sent to the entered email address, with magic link to still create a Khutba World account. For members without an email address, the system saves the PDF receipt locally so the board can print it.
Can we import our existing Excel data?
Yes, via CSV import. Columns for name, email, phone, tier, and optionally payment history. Available from the next release. During the transition phase you can run Khutba World parallel to your old system (e.g., Khutba World for new year, old Excel for current year).
Is shart available in every subscription?
Available for mosques with professional or enterprise subscription. On trial or basic, shart is not available — there the community module is still limited to announcements.
Can we give discounts to specific members?
Yes. The board can set the status per contribution to 'forgiven' with a note. That member will no longer enter the reminder flow and remains an active member. Useful for special cases — unemployment, health problems, families of the deceased.
