The poetry of fourteen centuries — in your language.

From Imam al-Shafi'i who wrote 'let the days do as they will', to Rumi's reed flute lamenting separation. Poetry touches where prose ends — and now you can read it in the original and in your own language.

Veertien eeuwen poëzieal-Shāfiʿī

Poetry is the heart of Islamic civilization. From the qasidas of the desert to the Sufi verses of Konya and Shiraz — for centuries, poets expressed what scholars could not capture in prose: the longing for Allah, the transience of the world, patience in trials, and love for the Prophet ﷺ.

Khutba World brings together 3,971 poems by 53 great poets — Rumi, Attar, Saadi, Hafiz, and Sa'eb from the Persian tradition; al-Mutanabbi, al-Ma'arri, Abu al-Atahiya, Ibn Arabi, Ibn al-Farid, Imam al-Shafi'i, and al-Busiri from the Arabic. Each poem in its original script (Arabic or Persian) and in a faithful, readable translation.

Each poem has been carefully selected for its appropriateness in a respectful Islamic context, and organized by theme: love for Allah, praise of the Prophet ﷺ, patience & trials, knowledge & wisdom, repentance & forgiveness, and the transience of the world. Available in all 32 languages.

Yes. All poems come from recognized classical sources (the poets' Diwans, the Ganjoor library for Persian poetry, and validated Arabic corpora). Each poem lists the poet and era, with the original in Arabic or Persian.
How good are the translations?
The English translation is crafted from the original with care for meaning, imagery, and verse structure — no literal machine translation. From English, the poems are available in all 32 languages. The original script always remains visible.
Which poets are included?
53 great poets, including Rumi, Attar, Saadi, Hafiz, Sa'eb Tabrizi, and Bidel (Persian) and al-Mutanabbi, al-Ma'arri, Abu al-Atahiya, Ibn Arabi, Ibn al-Farid, Imam al-Shafi'i, Ibn al-Wardi, and al-Busiri (Arabic), from pre-Islamic times to Muhammad Iqbal.
How are poems selected?
Each poem is reviewed for appropriateness in a respectful Islamic context. Verses glorifying wine, profane love, or heterodox tendencies are excluded; the focus is on devotional, wisdom, and praise poetry.
